Un Week-end camping (4/4)

And to conclude that great day, some hot dogs around a warm fire!
Awesome!

An internship, it's not only some work, it's also a lot of fun if you
find a good place to go.
I recommend it to all of you and hope that some of you'll dream a bit
with those few words and pics.

I'm almost done here, in less than three weeks this adventure will be
done.
I'll try to do a final article to conclude this great story.

I wish to all of the second year students good luck for this hard
month of June at ESLI, keep in mind that the best is coming if you want!

See U soon!

Un Week-end camping (3/4)

We've got to stop there, so close to the summit but thunder start to
make sound and the strong wind decide us to go down, a lightning
strike on the rocky top doesn't worth it.

Nothing better than a fresh beer after an intense day to recover some
strengths.

Nanjing Memorial (2/2)

This massacre is quite similar to the Nazi's exactions in East-Europe during the World War Two. This is something I wanted to talk about because it is important not only to share good moments and beautiful places but also the events that have marked a country.

Un Week-end camping (2/4)

Now lets go for a nice 5 hours scrambling in a steep mountain, and the
name Rockies is TRUE! It's completely different from the Alps or
Pyrenees, and pretty hard to climb.

Thankfully, I'm not scared of height, and the RandoRaid is a good
school for that kind of trip.

Nanjing Memorial (1/2)

This weekend I went to Nanjing (a city close to Shanghai) and to the Memorial. In Nanjing 300,000 people have been killed by Japanese army (from 13 December and during 6 weeks).

"The Memorial Hall for Compatriots killed in the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Forces of Aggression is located in the south-western corner of Nanjing known as Jiangdongmen, which used to be one of the execution grounds and mass burial places of the cruel holocaust.
Occupying an area about 28000 square meters with a floor space of 3000, it was built in 1985 in memory of the300, 000 victims......"
(Source : http://www.nj1937.org/english/default.asp).

This place is interesting and quite full of emotion. For historical explanation:

"On September 18, 1931, Japan created the so-called "September 18 Incident" as a pretext to occupy three provinces in Northeast China. On July 7, 1937, the Japanese Army concocted the "Lugouqiao (Macro Polo Bridge) Incident" on the outskirts of Beijing, signalling the beginning of an all-out invasion of China. From August 13 to November 12 of that year, the Japanese troops attacked and took over Shanghai. Soon after, the Japanese troops marched to Nanjing from three directions and besieged the city. At that time Nanjing was the capital of China.
On December 13, 1937, Nanjing was under the occupation of the Japanese Army and Nanjing was sacked. In the following six weeks, the Japanese Army committed extremely horrible crimes, murdering innocent people. In Nanjing more than 300,000 innocent citizens and unarmed soldiers were slaughtered. The ancient capital Nanjing suffered an unprecedented catastrophe and was turned into a living hell."

Un Week-end camping (1/4)

Hello!

After a long time without new stories, I wanna share with you my last weekend.

Winter is gone now and summer is eventually coming. That's the favourite season of most of Western Canadians, they can start Camping again with their tent, trailers or motor-homes.

Then, on Friday after work, we load the car to go with another student to the Rocky Mountains, enjoy the sun and climb a mountain.

First step, a good breakfast and study the map of the area to find a good spot, south oriented to avoid snow.

My Canadian adventure friend, Kyle, studying in a mechanical
engineering school in Edmonton but doing a coop in the company as mine.
